M83 has given White Lies' "Nothing To Give" the remix treatment, and it's turned out quite brilliantly! They've nudged the moody original into the 80's and Tears For Fears territory...

Grizzly Bear's new album, Veckatimest, is coming out on May 26th. I've heard some of the advance singles and I think it's going to be an amazing album! Album track "Two Weeks" is killer...and this Fred Falke remix totally takes it in a late 80's dance direction. I can totally hear this playing at the end of an 80's flick, when the guy gets the girl and the camera starts zooming out of the auditorium/gym...

The Strokes' Nikolai Fraiture has a side project entitled "Nickel Eye". Recently, they released their debut, The Time of The Assassins. Not surprisingly (in this day and age), we've already got a fresh remix of the lead single! Here we have Mark Ronson taking the laid back ska-lite of "Brandy of the Damned" and laying it back further with his signature "soul horns" treatment...

Air France, who seldom do remixes, have decided to remix Friendly Fires' "Skeleton Boy". As expected, they take the taut dance rock of the original and transform it into a sunny, swedish beach jam.

Jon Brion recently released a remix EP full of reinterpretations of Of Montreal's "First Time High" and "Gallery Piece". Wow, using "of" twice consecutively reads really weird. Even if "Of Montreal" is a proper noun...Anyways, check out an enjoyable fleshed out version of "First Time High"!

Ladyhawke is from New Zealand and tearing up the charts in the UK. She's got a Joan Jett -Tracy And The Plastics - Feist vibe to her. In this corner we have the excellent remix team of The Twelves who have been kicking out an insane amount of high quality reinterpretations. In the other corner we have the infectious french pop of Yelle. I want to see a clean match - no hitting below the waist...and fight!

Got back from the bloggeriffic Black Kids + Cut Copy + Simian Mobile Disco show this past Saturday. Man, that was a packed show. Black Kids performed well! Mixing new songs with the established ones from their EP, they managed to whip the crowd into a frenzy for Cut Copy.
I also had this great remix of "I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You" by The Twelves sent to me and I thought you should all hear it. It does a body good. It's got that smooth 80's sound that Chromeo loves also...

Hey all, I owe y'all some posts about Noise Pop, but I'm pretty busy...seeing shows. Expect those a little later this week. In the meantime, I've got The Wombats for ya. As you can see, NME has taken a liking to them and I have too. We've got that bratty post-punk going on here, covering common ground with The Futureheads and The Cribs. Also, CSS seems to be remixing everybody these days, so hop to it!

So we had a little power outage over here in SF due to the crazy storm. As a result, my apartment now has no power! Yippie! So, I'm curled up in local coffee spot, Ritual. I'm still going thorugh my backlog of stuff from last year, so here's a fun take on "Sleeping Lessons" by RAC. I'm not usually a fan of the RAC remixes, but I like their stripped down take on this one!
