THE DECEMBERISTS, ANDREW BIRD, BAND OF HORSES @ HOLLYWOOD BOWL
0 Comments Thursday, July 12, 2007 at 8:45 AM.Band of Horses kicked off the show with a cautionary greeting - Ben Bridwell mentioned that he was going to "try not to barf" because of the amount of people in the audience. They powered through some old favorites from the album and a couple new tracks from their recently recorded second album.
Andrew Bird upped the ante with a spinning phonograph and impressive whistling (giving Peter Bjorn and John a run for their money). Quote from an audience member, "He doesn't even need the philharmonic!"
The Decemberists took the stage in their best Polyphonic Spree attire. Been hanging out with Conor Oberst too much recently?
Colin looking kinda messianic in front of the L.A. Phil.
Colin got into the crowd for some close up guitarwork - he said he wanted to get out into the audience to do a solo but that his cord wouldn't reach that far. Instead, he decided to mime the solo and have Chris Funk do the real work.
