LET'S SEXY FIGHTING

Let's listen to some new music. And fight...sexily.

THIS IS IVY LEAGUE

This Is Ivy League's sound falls squarely between Simon and Garfunkel, The Beach Boys, and Belle and Sebastian. It's taken a while to grow on me, but "London Bridges" is a great song for lounging around, or perhaps to make brunch to. Mmm, brunch. Man, I need to eat.

Also check out their cover of The Arcade Fire's "Crown Of Love". Sounds like it'd have a place on the Juno 2 soundtrack...

At 9:20 the lights went out, and after a short video, Arcade Fire took to the stage. Régine whipped out the hurdy gurdy, and she and the rest of the 10-man band went right into "Keep the Car Running".

It was amazing to see them keep up the energy throughout the entire set. From the dancing girls on strings to Régine switching between the keys, vibraphone, and megaphone all in the same song to Win climbing down to walk through the audience, it truly was awesome.

The smooth segue from "Neon Bible" into Clinic's "Distortions" was excellent. Also, the rocking transition from "Neighborhood #3 (Power Out)" into "Rebellion (Lies)" got the crowd pumped up and ready for the encore.

For the encore, they came back with a freaky presentation of "My Body Is a Cage". At center stage there was a cardboard cutout of Win's body positioned in front of a microphone. Win was playing the organ in the dark while his face was projected onto the cutout's head. Following that, the bouncy ending of "Wake Up" was a perfect way to end the night.

PARDON THE INTERRUPTION

Went down for several hours there cause of a hosting problem, but we're back again!

Here's a prototype live version of "Intervention" by the Arcade Fire for our lost time. This was recorded back in 2005 on KCRW, so it's got a slightly different arrangement of instruments.

NEW ARCADE FIRE

Ok, so the blogosphere pretty much blew up last night when a new Arcade Fire track showed up. It's not a great quality rip, since it's ripped from the BBC stream of it. But it's a good excuse to buy the album when it comes out! It's lush, it's epic, and it's cathartic. Pretty much all we've come to expect from the Arcade Fire. Next year has the return of many traditionally favorite artists. It's going to be a great year!
