Recently I've been grooving to the instrumental hip-hop, dub-step-ish stylings of Boy 8-Bit. There's something energetic, but soothing about it. I first discovered him through his remix work, but now I'm starting to see the brilliance of his solo stuff!

Daniel Johnson has experienced a wide spectrum in his musical career - grinding it out on the road, brushes with major labels, and critical success. Do anything for a long enough time without breakthrough, and at some point we all get tired of butting our heads up against the ceiling and consider quitting.
Unfortunately, Daniel got to this point and quit his longtime band, Judah Johnson, and took an indefinite hiatus from making music. However, over time he began to miss what attracted him to it in the first place, and began attacking it from a different angle - electronically. The result is a gorgeous, lush, and fully fleshed out blend of rock, electronic, and soul.
